How do 4th & 5th grade instrument lessons work?
Students who choose to learn an instrument are pulled once a week for a 35-minute group lesson and have ensemble rehearsal once a week during recess and quiet time for 45 minutes. Lessons run on a fixed schedule and students are responsible for communicating with their classroom teacher to make up any work missed during their instrument lesson.
How do I get an instrument for my child?
NEMC (www.nemc.com) and Music and Arts Center (www.musicarts.com) deliver instruments to our school to rent and provide weekly repair pick-ups. Rentals need to be secured by the beginning of the school year.
You can also go to outside vendors such as The Violin Doctor or Princeton Violins for local quality rentals and for beautiful instruments to purchase.

What does my child need for their first lesson?
All students should come to their first lesson with a three-ring binder. If you rented an instrument from NEMC or Music and Arts and chose school delivery, your child will receive their instrument at their first lesson with a book. If you chose to purchase an instrument you will need to purchase a shoulder rest for strings and book for the first lesson- please email Mr. Ippolito or Mrs. Sharpe before purchasing an instrument.
